Wildfire season not quite over

KAMLOOPS — It may seem to many that wildfire season is over, but the Wildfire service had to deal with a couple of spot fires on Saturday near Pinantan Lake.

Both were held at less than a hectare. One was person-caused, the other of unknown origin.

We had lightning in the area over the weekend, so we’ll see whether or not that leads to anything in the coming days. Interesting to note we also had some hail in Kamloops.

Cooler temperatures and rain have reduced the fire danger significantly, but there is always the danger of fire, especially with the long, dry summer we’ve had in the Interior.
