Trans Canada Highway closed near Lytton amid landslide fears

LYTTON, B.C. — The provincial transportation ministry says the Trans Canada Highway will be closed between Spences Bridge and Lytton Friday afternoon (Sept. 17) due to the threat of heavy rain in the forecast.

In a news release, the ministry says the rain could cause heavy debris flows, as the land has been exposed by this summer’s Lytton Creek wildfire.

The closure is slated to start at 4:00 p.m.

Northbound traffic will be diverted to Highway 5 or Highway 3, while southbound traffic will be diverted at Cache Creek.
