TRU WolfPack soccer returns, men draw UBC 1-1 and women fall 2-0

KAMLOOPS — For the first time since 2019, Thompson Rivers University’s (TRU) soccer clubs resumed regular season play.

However, both the men’s and women’s WolfPack clubs must wait a little bit longer for their first win since before the 2020 Canada West soccer season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the men’s side, Dylan Hooper scored in the 72^nd minute to tie the WolfPack’s match against the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds. The men began their season with a 1-1 draw.

Elsewhere, the women WolfPack fell 2-0 to UBC. Both matches were at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops.

Both WolfPack squads get another chance for their first wins tonight (Sept. 11) in their respective rematches against UBC. The men play at the Tournament Capital Centre at 5 p.m., while the women play at Hillside Stadium at 7 p.m.
