Vancouver man arrested after downtown Kamloops purse-snatching incident
KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a purse-snatching incident in downtown Kamloops last week nearly escalated into a car-jacking.
Spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 1), officers were called to the 100-block of Victoria Street for the report of a man who had taken a woman’s purse before running away.
A bystander chased the man into Riverside Park. That’s where it is alleged the suspect tried to steal a person’s vehicle.
Mounties rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect. Vancouver resident David Edward Nicholson, 31, is facing two counts of robbery and one count each of assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
