Greg Stewart throws shot put tonight at Tokyo Paralympics

Kamloops — This is Greg Stewart’s night at the Tokyo Paralympics.

The Kamloops athlete is in a field of eight for the shot put final, starting just after 6:30pm PDT.

Stewart is the Canadian record holder with a personal best of 16.30.

His season best so far in 2021 is 15.80.

It’s a competitive field in Tokyo with three other throwers also having PB’s over 16.

Among them is Josh Cinnamo from the U.S.

Cinnamo is the world record holder with a throw of 16.80, which he achieved at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, when he edged out Stewart for the gold medal.
