Kamloops sees red; average daily rate per 100,000 greater than 20

KAMLOOPS — For the first time since geographic distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area (LHA) has been made available by the B.C. government, Kamloops is bright red.

Kamloops saw 193 new cases of COVID-19 between Aug. 15 and 21, for an average daily rate per 100,000 population greater than 20.

Elsewhere, the Central Okanagan saw a decrease in weekly COVID-19 cases since July 4 to 10. The LHA saw 737 new cases reported, down nearly 200 from the previous week.

The breakdown for LHAs surrounding Kamloops is as follows:

  • Kamloops – 193 (up by 72)
  • Cariboo/Chilcotin – 44 (down by seven)
  • North Thompson – four (up by two)
  • 100 Mile House – six (down by one)
  • South Cariboo – five (down by one)
  • Lillooet – two (up by two)
  • Merritt – 13 (down by four)
  • Vernon – 133 (up by 24)
  • Armstrong-Spallumcheen – 16 (unchanged)
  • Enderby – 28 (up by 15)
  • Salmon Arm – 79 (up by 31)
  • Revelstoke – 24 (down by nine)
  • Central Okanagan (Kelowna) – 737 (down by 185)
