City shuts down Music in the Park

KAMLOOPS One of the City’s most popular summer events has been shut down early because of the escalation of cases of COVID-19.

Music in the Park had been already shortened this year because of COVID restrictions, but started up again on August 15th for a short run that was to have ended this Saturday, August 28th.

But with heavy restrictions reintroduced by the province Friday, the City made the decision to cancel the rest of the season. The City said with the new pandemic-related restrictions introduced by Interior Health, last Friday was the last show.

Mask mandates were reintroduced Friday in all indoor spaces, and restrictions on outdoor gatherings were limited to 50 people. Other restrictions were introduced as well, as Interior Health continues to see a ramped-up number of cases, mostly in the Central Okanagan.
