KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) has taken down a suspected drug house on the North Shore.

In a news release, spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says TEU members moved in on a home in the 100-block of Yew Street Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 18) after a surveillance operation witnessed dozens of drug transactions in one day.

Officers seized drugs and cash. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.

The bust comes after another significant North Shore seizure last Friday.

Evelyn says TEU members patrolling the Tranquille Road area witnessed a suspected drug deal.

Their investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, cash, drug-dealing items, a can of bear spray and a large knife.

Two more people were arrested. They have been released pending the completion of the investigation. If charges are eventually approved, RCMP say it may be months before the suspects appear in court.

“As part of the criminal justice process, in cases like these, we are required to release those arrested and continue our investigation prior to applying for charge approval from the Federal Crown Prosecution Service,” said Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay of the Serious Crimes Unit. “Those investigations can take months to complete while we wait for the return of drug analysis reports and secure other evidence required for consideration.”

Anyone witnessing drug trafficking activity in Kamloops is encouraged to call RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
