B.C. records 689 new COVID-19 cases; active caseload jumps by more than 400
VICTORIA — The province’s health ministry is reporting another 689 cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Thursday (Aug. 19) as the prospect of a fourth wave looms.
Among the new cases, 278 were found in Interior Health.
The province says the active caseload is up to 5,982 (+402), with more than half of them within IH. There are 121 people in hospital, with 56 in intensive care.
Two more people have died of the virus — one in Interior Health, the other in Northern Health.
