Kamloops more than doubles weekly COVID-19 cases

KAMLOOPS — For the second week in a row, Kamloops has more than doubled its weekly COVID-19 cases.

The latest Local Health Area map from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control between Aug. 8 to 14 shows 121 COVID-19 cases in Kamloops and area, up from 59 the previous week.

The Central Okanagan saw a slighter increase than previous weeks, although it still reported 922 new COVID-19 cases – the most in B.C.

Nearly every area surrounding Kamloops saw substantial growth between Aug. 8 to 14, 2021:

  • Kamloops – 121 (up by 62)
  • Cariboo/Chilcotin – 51 (up by 42)
  • North Thompson – two (unchanged)
  • 100 Mile House – seven (up by six)
  • South Cariboo – six (up by six)
  • Lillooet – zero (unchanged)
  • Merritt – 17 (up by 11)
  • Vernon – 109 (up by 18)
  • Armstrong-Spallumcheen – 16 (up by four)
  • Enderby – 13 (up by two)
  • Salmon Arm – 48 (up by 24)
  • Revelstoke – 33 (21)
  • Central Okanagan (Kelowna) – 922 (up by 73)
