KAMLOOPS — The province says the Trans Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon will remain closed for at least one more day as crews work feverishly to clean up the results of a pair of Monday night (Aug. 16) mudslides.
In a statement to CFJC Today, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says two ‘significant’ mudslides came down between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight Monday – one on the Trans Canada Highway north of Lytton, the other on Highway 12.
The ministry says efforts to clean up the debris are underway, but the Trans Canada will likely remain closed throughout the day Wednesday as they work.
