District of Barriere issues evacuation alert, TNRD puts 231 properties on alert due to Sparks Lake fire
BARRIERE, B.C. — The District of Barriere issued an evacuation alert Monday (Aug. 16) morning.
The Sparks Lake wildfire southwest of the community, measured at 88,465 hectares, poses a threat to structures and residents.
The evacuation alert was issued to prepare Barriere residents to evacuate their premises or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation. However, they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
