KAMLOOPS – Anyone working in long-term care and assisted living facilities in British Columbia, will now require a COVID-19 vaccination.

B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry delivered the news during a noon hour news conference today (Aug. 12).

“We have now seen with the transmission of the new variant, that we need extra protection in this highly risky situation,” said Dr. Henry.

“Even when resident immunization is as high as it is across the board in facilities in this province, we have seen transmission from unvaccinated staff. And it has reinformed the need for the protection from all people in long-term care,” said Dr. Henry.
