Kamloops sees slight decrease in weekly COVID-19 cases, Central Okanagan nearly triples again

KAMLOOPS — The latest breakdown of COVID-19 cases by Local Health Area (LHA) shows Kamloops’ COVID-19 cases slightly decreased in the last week.

The map from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) for the week of July 25 to 31 shows 26 cases in the Kamloops area, down from 29 the previous week.

The Central Okanagan, however, nearly tripled its cases for the second straight week.

It’s reporting 450 new cases, up from 153 last week. The week prior, the Central Okanagan had 53 new cases.

Salmon Arm more than tripled its cases from six last week to 20 this week. Vernon also nearly tripled its cases from 21 last week to 59 this week.

Here are the totals for areas surrounding Kamloops between July 25 to 31, 2021:

  • Kamloops – 26 (down by three)
  • Cariboo/Chilcotin – zero (unchanged)
  • North Thompson – zero (unchanged)
  • 100 Mile House – zero (unchanged)
  • South Cariboo – zero (unchanged)
  • Lillooet – one (up by one)
  • Merritt – zero (unchanged)
  • Vernon – 59 (up by 38)
  • Armstrong-Spallumcheen – eight (up by eight)
  • Enderby – nine (up by nine)
  • Salmon Arm – 20 (up by 14)
  • Revelstoke – three (up by two)
  • Central Okanagan-Kelowna – 450 (up by 297)
