Walk-in Wednesday providing vaccines, therapy dogs, and music in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – To commemorate ‘walk-in Wednesday’, the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops will host live entertainment, therapy dogs, and smoothies today.

During the B.C.-wide walk-in-Wednesday (Aug. 4), anyone across the province can walk-into any COVID-19 immunization clinic without an appointment and receive their first or second dose. Those wanting their second doses must have waited at least 49 days since getting their first.

A brass band made up of members of Beyond Brass, calling themselves the Safe Sectionals during the pandemic, will start performing at 11 a.m. to both celebrate the city’s vaccination progress, and further encourage fellow Kamloops residents to walk in or dance in for their first or second dose.

Therapy dogs from St. John Ambulance will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone who needs support getting their vaccination, or anyone who just loves dogs.

The City of Kamloops will also hand out coupons for free smoothies for the first 100 people who get their vaccinations during walk-in Wednesday at the Tournament Capital Centre.

The Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in-Wednesday.
