Police in Kamloops seeking witnesses after reported park attack

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are seeking witnesses after a youth was reportedly attacked by a man brandishing a knife last evening (July 28).

In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says around 10:20 p.m on July 28, officers responded to a scream heard near the volleyball courts on Kitchener Crescent. Police on scene found a youth who told them a man with a knife leapt out near the washrooms and pushed her to the ground.

The youth was able to fight the man off, who then fled the area. Evelyn notes that the youth was uninjured. Police patrolled the surrounding area and detained a man nearby. He was subsequently released following further investigation.

“There was a beach party with about 30 people in attendance nearby at the time of the attack,” states Evelyn. “We are hoping someone there saw or heard something, or can identify a suspect to help us further this investigation.”

  • Caucasian male
  • Mid 20s
  • 5’10
  • Slender build
  • Slim, long face
  • Green eyes
  • Bushy eyebrows
  • Shorter hair, well kept
  • Distinctive limp

Wearing:

  • A black shirt
  • Baggy tan pants with big pockets
  • Black Nike hat
