MERRITT, B.C. — Interior Health says it will continue running The Florentine in Merritt until its operator gives up its long-term care beds.

IH announced it was taking over the facility on March 23, saying its private operator “was unable meet the legislated standards of care for residents.”

Since then, the operator has given the province the required 12-month notice to stop offering long-term care beds.

In a news release issued Tuesday (July 20), IH says its appointed site administrator, Matt Renfrew, will continue running the facility until that 12-month period expires.
