CACHE CREEK, B.C. — Cache Creek Fire Chief Tom Moe says the community is being put on evacuation alert due to the worsening wildfire situation.

In a post to the Cache Creek Fire Department Facebook page, Moe says it is an alert only, put in place out of an abundance of caution.

The closest wildfire of note is the Tremont Creek fire, estimated at 780 hectares and burning east of Ashcroft.

Moe says Cache Creek is safe from danger for now, but he wants to ensure residents are prepared in case the situation changes.
