Weekend for Kamloops RCMP includes boat crash, stolen truck recovered and numerous drug seizures

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 450 calls for service from midnight on Friday, July 9, to 9:00 a.m. on Monday July 12, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.

Boat crash sends man to hospital

A man was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition after a boat crash Sunday morning.

Kamloops RCMP assisted BC Emergency Health Services with a boat crash on the river near Oriole Road and East Trans Canada Highway at 9:00 a.m.

According to the investigation, the driver swerved and lost control of the boat. Drugs and alcohol were not suspected.

Stolen truck recovered and drugs seized

Kamloops RCMP said they found two people passed out inside a truck with drug paraphernalia on Dalgleish Drive Sunday afternoon.

Police said a truck and lawnmower that were present had been reported as stolen, and one of the men was wanted on an endorsed warrant. Drugs and cash were seized.

The men were arrested and later released with a court date.

Drugs seized after man and woman found passed out in running vehicle

A report of a man and woman passed out in a running vehicle on the 400-block of Lansdowne Street Friday afternoon led to police seizing a quantity of drugs and cash.

Police attended and as part of their investigation, seized more than 350 grams of drugs, including suspected meth and fentanyl, as well as cash.

A ticket was also issued for driving with no license.

Knives and drugs found after man found causing a disturbance

After reports of yelling and swearing near a black sedan parked at Schubert Drive and Walnut Avenue early Sunday morning, Kamloops RCMP observed belongings thrown on the ground.

A man who was present and reportedly uncooperative was arrested for cause of disturbance and obstruction, but later released on scene.

Police located many knives, including one strapped under the steering wheel and drugs suspected to be meth.
