LYTTON, B.C. — Just as residents of Lytton, B.C., are returning to the community for a first look at what remains after they fled a wildfire last week, the Transportation Safety Board says it is sending investigators to the village.

The board says in a brief statement it is deploying a team following a fire that involved a freight train in Lytton.

A cause of the blaze remains under investigation, although local Indigenous leaders say train movement during drought-like conditions made people anxious.

Canadian National Railway has said its trains were not linked to the fire and Canadian Pacific resumed its service through Lytton on Monday.
