Kamloops Emergency Operations Centre reactivated

KAMLOOPS – Ongoing struggles to snuff out a fire in an eastern section of Kamloops has led the City of Kamloops to reactivate its Emergency Operations Centre.

The fire in the Valleyview and Juniper Ridge areas continued to flare up Friday.

KFR Fire Chief Steve Robinson says the move is being made despite the fact there are no evacuation orders at this moment. “We are hitting this with everything we can and we will remain vigilant and keep residents and the public updated throughout this event.”

The City says it has established a unified command with Kamloops Fire Rescue, RCMP, BC Ambulance and the BC Wildfire Service to support response efforts.
