Island Health sees only 1 new COVID-19 case

NANAIMO — The number of new COVID-19 cases discovered in Island Health slowed drastically.

Only one new cases was confirmed by Island Health on Wednesday, June 30. It was in the southern Island area, which currently has four active cases.

The central Island has the bulk of cases with 12, a decrease of one from the day before. There’s none in the northern regions of the health authority.

There is a data discrepancy between Island Health and the province, based on the timing of COVID-19 results. NanaimoNewsNOW reports local verified data from Island Health.

Across B.C. 44 new cases were found as the number of active cases fell to 816. Currently 108 people are hospitalized, 34 of whom are receiving intensive care.

There were no new fatalities.
