KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) has issued a drug alert for a toxic substance being sold and used in Kamloops.

IH says though the purple chunk substance is being sold as fentanyl, it contains a high toxicity of fentanyl, along with benzos and sugar.

The risk to users — even in small amounts — is overdose, along with prolonged sedation.

The drug alert is in effect from Tuesday, June 29, to July 6.
