Deal struck to solve murky water woes in French Creek subdivision
PARKSVILLE — Relief is around the corner for residents of a French Creek neighbourhood burdened for decades by discoloured, odorous water.
The Regional District of Nanaimo and Town of Qualicum Beach announced on Friday, June 25 a bulk water agreement for 242 households in the Sandpiper subdivision.
The RDN expects Sandpiper residents will be hooked into Qualicum Beach’s water system in the fall to replace an often murky groundwater source established in 1980.
In a news release, the RDN stated $970,000 was allocated from the Electoral Area G Community Works Fund for the project.
