BARRIERE, B.C. — A complete fire ban is in effect in the District of Barriere as of Wednesday (June 23).
That means no campfires or open burning at all, but barbecues and Canadian Standards Association approved propane fire rings are still allowed.
Barriere Fire Chief Ashley Wohlgemuth said the district has put fire bans in place near July long weekend in previous years.
“For now, with the dry conditions and us being on hand watering only for our lawns… everything is pretty dry, so we want to be proactive about our fire bans,” Wohlgemuth said.
