SALMON ARM, B.C. — RCMP in Salmon Arm say the escape of a kidnapping victim Sunday (June 20) led to two arrests and the recovery of thousands of dollars in suspected stolen goods.

In a release, RCMP say officers were called to the 400-block of Fourth Avenue Southeast at about 2:39 p.m. Sunday. A distressed 18-year-old woman at that location said she escaped being held against her will, assaulted and threatened.

Information and evidence led officers to arrest two suspects who were allegedly trying to flee the area in a taxi cab.

Arresting officers recovered a .22-calibre rifle and a haul of suspected stolen items. That includes a collection of dozens of hockey cards, all of the same player, believed to be worth thousands of dollars. Officers also recovered a specialized tool set and handheld GPS units.
