Hat Creek Road fire near Ashcroft now being held

ASHCROFT, B.C. — The 19-hectare Hat Creek Road wildfire southwest of Ashcroft is now being held.
The fire broke out on Saturday (June 5) and was visible from the Trans Canada Highway.
Fire Information Officer Shae Stearns says the fire was out of control until Monday morning, but the 26 personnel on scene have managed to get a handle on it.
The blaze is not threatening any structures or property.
Stearns says the cause is believed to be lightning.
