Former Blazers goaltender Rayce Ramsay returning to the Humboldt Broncos

KAMLOOPS — The field for the Kamloops Blazers’ two goaltending positions in the 2021-22 Western Hockey League (WHL) season has thinned out.

The Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) announced that 20-year-old goaltender Rayce Ramsay will play for them in 2021-22. Ramsay, born in Saskatoon, played one season with the Broncos in 2018-19, finishing with a 16-7-2 record, a 0.923 save percentage, and 2.73 goals against average.

Ramsay played two games with the Blazers in 2018-19 after the Broncos’ season ended. He spotted a 0.931 save percentage and 1.99 goals against average in his first taste of WHL action.

The following season in 2019-20, Ramsay served as the backup to Dylan Garand in net. Ramsay went 13-8-1 with a 0.880 save percentage and 3.07 goals against average. Ramsay did not play in the shortened 2021 WHL Hub season.

Both the Blazers’ goaltenders in 2021- Garand and Dylan Ernst – are eligible to return to Kamloops for the 2021-22 WHL season.
