RCMP execute search warrants, arrest several
KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a trespassing call earlier this week eventually led to the arrest of several people and the execution of warrants in Kamloops, Abbotsford, Barriere and 100 Mile House.
Around 9:00 AM, Tuesday (June 1), a trespassing call led to the capture of a wanted person. Several people were walking through backyards on McGill Road, intending to campout behind a store in the 900 block of Columbia Street West. The wanted person, a 24-year old man, fled but was captured a short time later.
In the afternoon, a shoplifter was apprehended in the 700 block Victoria Street, and this led to the execution of several warrants against a 44-year old Kamloops woman. Later that afternoon, police were back on Victoria street executing a warrant on behalf of 100-Mile House RCMP for a man wanted in relation to a number of offences, including assault with a weapon, extortion and unlawful confinement. When police tried to arrest him, he became combative. One officer was injured in the altercation. A 24-year old man was arrested.
Then that night, around 9:15 PM, an officer spotted a man wanted on an unendorsed warrant, and the 39-year old was arrested. The officer was doing proactive patrols in Valleyview at the time.
