B.C. records 199 new cases of COVID-19, including 34 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has found another 199 cases of COVID-19, including 34 within Interior Health.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry gave the figures at a news briefing Thursday (June 3).

Overall, there have been 144,866 cases of COVID-19 found in B.C., distributed throughout the province as follows:

  • 35,015 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 68)
  • 84,404 — Fraser Health (up by 89)
  • 5,064 — Island Health (up by 2)
  • 12,488 — Interior Health (up by 34)
  • 7,695 — Northern Health (up by 6)
  • 200 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry noted an active COVID-19 caseload of 2,563 Thursday, a decrease of 99 from Wednesday. There are 224 people in hospital and 62 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 392 active cases, down 16 from Wednesday. There are 16 in hospital and seven in critical care.

Two more people have died of the virus, raising the provincial death toll to 1,709. The death toll in Interior Health remains at 151.

In total, 140,537 people are considered fully recovered from COVID-19, or 97 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry reports 71.8 per cent of all adults and 68.9 per cent of all British Columbians age 12 or older have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
