MPs McLeod, Albas vote counter to Conservative majority on abortion bill

OTTAWA — A private members bill sponsored by Cathay Wagantall, Conservative MP for Yorkton-Melville in Saskatchewan, surrounding abortion was voted on Wednesday in the House of Commons.

The bill aimed to ban doctors from performing an abortion based on the sex of a fetus.

The majority of Conservative MPs voted in favour of the bill, 81 in favour and 38 opposed.

Local Tory MPs Cathy McLeod and Dan Albas voted against the motion as did Conservative Leader Erin O`Toole.
