MERRITT — Update: Traffic has resumed at Highway 5A in Merritt and B.C. Hydro is no longer on scene where a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole line.
Earlier: Highway 5A in Merritt is closed in both directions after downed hydro lines between Coldwater Road and Exit 286.
Over 600 B.C. Hydro customers are affected after a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole line east of Voght Street and south of Nicole Avenue.
An assessment is being conducted by crews but there’s no estimated time of re-opening. A detour is available via the bypass.
