Kamloops Wednesday Farmer’s Market set to expand in early June

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Regional Farmers Market has been back and running for about a month now. However, with the official start of summer still about a month away, sales have yet to really ramp up at the Wednesday market.

That fact could change soon. Starting Wednesday, June 2, the mid-week market will expand to close down the 400-block of Victoria Street. Market Manager Greg Unger hopes this expansion will help draw more folks to the vendors.

“We’re bringing back the Wednesday market street closure,” Unger explains. “[This will] make it easier for visitors and vendors at the market to spread out and make it a friendlier atmosphere in general.”

While Saturday markets have been blessed with sunny skies and warm weather, Unger says Wednesday weather hasn’t been as cooperative. He’s hopeful that the expanded market in June will bring sunnier skies mid-week, as well as more fresh options for folks looking for produce.

“Not all of our farmers are out yet, but when June rolls around you can expect both of those to change — it’ll be sunnier and there will all kinds of farmers.”
