Minos reverses course, decides against opening dining room in defiance of restrictions

KAMLOOPS — A North Shore restaurant that last week pledged to open its indoor dining room regardless of public health restrictions has reversed its decision.

In a Facebook message posted Sunday night (May 16), Minos Greek Restaurant says it “will not be opening if the rules don’t change.”

Last week, the restaurant declared it would open its dining room on May 25, even if that would violate health restrictions put in place to curtail the spread of COVID-19. The post was deleted a day later.

In March, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry prohibited indoor dining as part of ‘circuit breaker’ restrictions. The rules were extended in April, but are due to expire on May 25. Henry has not indicated whether they will be extended further.
