B.C. finds 587 new cases of COVID-19; 60 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. is reporting 587 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday (May 13), including 60 cases within Interior Health.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry revealed the totals in a news conference.

The overall total of all cases of COVID-19 in B.C. has reached 137,810, spread out as follows:

• 33,647 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 126)
• 80,183 — Fraser Health (up by 365)
• 4,903 — Island Health (up by 21)
• 11,582 — Interior Health (up by 60)
• 7,391 — Northern Health (up by 15)
• 195 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

There are 5,691 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Thursday, down by 196 from Wednesday. There are 413 people in hospital and 141 in critical or intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 488 active cases, an increase of four from Wednesday. There are 21 people in hospital and 10 in critical care.

Five more people have died of the virus, raising the B.C. death toll to 1,632. Three of the five deaths occurred in Interior Health, raising the regional death toll to 144.

The total of those considered fully recovered from the virus is now 130,310, or 95 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry noted that 2,335,513 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to British Columbians, including 119,691 second doses.
