Suspect sought after Anglemont shooting leads to mistaken vehicle takedown in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have released more details about what drew a large police presence in the Valleyview area this morning (May 10).

In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the incident began around 6:45 a.m in the Anglemont area when Chase RCMP responded to a shots fired report along Fairview Road.

When police arrived on scene they found one man who had been shot. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while a suspect vehicle was seen speeding away from the area.

Several hours later around 9:40 a.m, police in the Pritchard area found a vehicle matching the description. Then with the help of Kamloops RCMP, a high-risk takedown occurred on Highway 1 near Vicars Road.

However police determined the vehicle and its occupants were not associated to the shooting incident and those individuals were released at the scene.

While the suspect remains on the loose, RCMP don’t believe the public is at risk. RCMP have determined the victim and the shooter are known to each other.
