Kamloops Film Society, Western Canada Theatre receive grants from B.C. government

KAMLOOPS — Numerous arts and culture organizations, as well as artists in Kamloops and area received funding from the B.C. Government.
Kamloops Film Society and Western Canada Theatre each received $50,000 grants as part of the province’s B.C. Economic Recovery Plan. The B.C. Arts Council administered the grants to support artists and organizations that have found ways to keep creating and reaching their audiences amidst temporary closures and restricted gatherings.
Around the area, Merrit Dance Society received $10,000, Arts Council for the South Shuswap received $10,220, Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong received $44,000, and 2 Rivers Remix Society in Lytton received $50,000.
“People in the arts have used their ingenuity to find new ways to keep creating despite the pandemic. Artists are so vital to our social and cultural fabric. These grants are empowering artists and organizations throughout B.C. to adapt their platforms so they can continue inspiring us,” Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Melanie Mark said.
