KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 415 calls for service from midnight on Friday, April 23, to 9:00 a.m. on Monday April 26, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.

Parties at Pioneer Park

Approximately 75 teenagers were gathered without social distance or masks, but without alcohol, at the Pioneer Park boat launch Friday evening.

Officers arrived at around 6:35 p.m. and most of the teenagers ran from the park. Police arrived one more time at around 8:30 p.m. where, again, most of the teenagers quickly left or waited for their parents to pick them up.

No further reports were received that evening, but additional patrols were requested throughout the weekend.

Youth reports being beaten and robbed

A man in his late teens was reportedly beaten and robbed of his cash and phone after buying cigarettes from three men in a parking lot Saturday morning.

The three white men – one of them described as skinny, between 40 to 50 years old with shades and black hat and dark clothes, and one described as around 25 years old with a buzz cut – allegedly beat the teenager with a baton before fleeing on foot.
