Bonaparte River peaks at five-year flow rate, expected to stabilize over the weekend

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — High water conditions are improving on the Bonaparte River in Cache Creek, but the B.C. River Forecast Centre (RFC) is maintaining a high streamflow advisory for the river.
In a bulletin published Friday (Apr. 23), the RFC says temperatures have cooled over the course of the week, leading to slower snow melt in the region.
It notes the Bonaparte reached a peak of about 48 cubic-metres-per-second Thursday, considered a five-year flow, and has eased slightly since then.
The forecast calls for cooler temperatures and a chance of overnight freezing in the area over the weekend, which could slow melt further. Rises in the river level would depend on the amount of precipitation received.
