QUESNEL —A crucial player in Quesnel’s economy is set to re-open.

Kandola Forest Products (KCU) announced it purchased the specialty sawmill in Quesnel, formerly known at C&C Wood Products. KCU said it will bring back approximately 90 jobs in 2021.

“We are confident that we will restore the sawmill as a successful, stable, long-term employer and operator in the City of Quesnel,” KCU President and CEO Neal Kandola said in a release. “Over the coming years, we will be exploring further investments that will increase our employment numbers to greater than previous peak numbers.”

The former C&C Wood Products employed approximately 185 people across its remanufacturing facilities, logging, and hauling divisions at its peak, prior to closing in May 2020.
