Another grass fire in Kamloops

Apr 13, 2021 | 7:41 AM

KAMLOOPS — Fire crews had to deal with a grass fire at Pioneer Park last night.

A pile of brush and grass material was extinguished quickly by fire crews. The fire was called in about 9:00 PM last night.

At this point, Captain Darryl Cooper says they don’t think last night’s fire was related to a series of fires Sunday night and Monday morning on the Tk’emlups Reserve.

These recent fires, along with a number of others this month, are indicative of how dry the forest floor and grasslands are, with a lack of rain combined with the usual after-winter scenario when it takes a while for grass and brush to start to green up.
