Council to look at grants and patios
KAMLOOPS — City council will have some interesting ideas to discuss at their meeting today (April 13).
One of them is the idea of improving social services for the city’s most vulnerable. A report to council by staff urges the City to apply for a grant which could amount to $2.5 million dollars. That grant, handed out through the UBCM, would help provide help for the homeless and reduce community concerns over safety.
The report would see two new portable toilets added on the South Shore and two on the North. There would be new outreach programs, two mobile security guards for overnight shifts, and two community safety officers on a one-year basis.
Much of the funding will be covered by the grant, but there could be some increases in some areas of the budget.
