KAMLOOPS — The wildfire season is building up a bit. Seven fires have cropped up over the weekend, bringing the number of fires currently burning in the province to 14.

The Kamloops Fire Centre still has the most fires, with six active, but more are springing up in other areas of the province as well.

The largest fire in the Kamloops Fire Centre by far is the one at Quilchena Creek, which is being held at 839 hectares. There is another fire not too far away near the Coldwater River which sits at 50 hectares but is under control.
