Kamloops RCMP seize drugs, recover stolen cheques, investigate parking lot fires

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 496 calls for service from midnight Friday (April 2) to 9 a.m. on Tuesday (April 6). are some highlights from those calls.

Drugs seized during impaired driving investigation

Approximately 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine was seized after a highway crash.

A man was arrested after his vehicle collided with a semi-truck late Tuesday after police received a report of an impaired driver on East Trans Canada Highway.

Stolen cheques recovered during break-in report

After an evicted person allegedly broke into a room at the 1700-block of East Trans Canada Highway late Monday, Kamloops RCMP recovered stolen cheques.

The investigation is ongoing.

Parking lot fires

Two men reportedly lit leaves on fire in a parking lot in the 100-block of Knox Street Monday evening.

One of the men was described as having a gas can.

RCMP located two men who matched the suspect descriptions and warned them about lighting fires in public.

Shortly after, police were called back to the location where a second fire had been lit. Kamloops firefighters attended and the building was evacuated.
