Three wildfires discovered in Kamloops region Easter Sunday

KAMLOOPS — Wildfire season continues to show signs of life in the Kamloops region.

Three fires were discovered on Sunday (April 4), all believed to be person-caused. The largest is a 300-hectare fire near Quilchena Creek, the second a 50-hectare near Coldwater River, and the other a small, 0.4-hectare near Allandale Lake Road south of Okanagan Falls.

As of publication, there are 11 active wildfires in B.C. with nine of them in the Kamloops Fire Centre. Five are considered under control, the three on April 4 are new, and one is being held at 100 hectares west of Vernon.

Residents who come across wildfires are encouraged to keep clear of the scene, especially if crews are on site.
