KAMLOOPS — CFJC Boogie the Bridge will be mostly virtual this year, but some runners will now be able to take part in an in-person event.

Boogie organizer Jo Berry says the event has been given approval to have a limited in-person running event alongside its online offering.

“We just got approval from the City, and with following B.C. health guidelines, we can do a very small in-person event on April 25 for 50 people including our team,” she explains. “That’s going to happen on April 25, and there will be two events — one at 9:00 a.m and one at 1:00 p.m.”

Berry says it’ll be a first come, first serve basis, with staggered starts for runners to adequately distance.

“It’s going to be four people at a time, and you arrive at your start time and you leave right after so there won’t be any big social gathering or anything,” she says, “but we’re going to do our best to have some Boogie energy around the route for people!”

She adds that registration for the virtual 8 Days of Boogie is still open ahead of the April 18 start date. Berry notes that while the online event won’t have an in-person aspect, there are still some classic event staples to look forward to.

“Everybody gets a bib and a medal, so there’s some bling there of course. And it’s just really about supported our charity — Western Canada Theatre. We do have t-shirts for sale and all of the funds go to our charity.”

Berry adds that organizers are hopeful for extra community support this year to ensure Boogie the Bridge can return in 2022. To register, click here.
