KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Food Bank is hosting a 50/50 raffle as its latest fundraiser. The food bank is calling the fundraiser The Mother of All Raffles, with the winner being announced the day after Mother’s Day.

Executive Director Bernadette Siracky says the goal is to raise $200,000, with the winner taking half. The other half will support the operations of the food bank.

“It costs money to operate an organization and we serve 6,000 people, 50 agencies that make meals, nine regional food banks and we really have a strong impact in this community,” she said. “So, (an) easy way to support what we do and hopefully you can win.”

Siracky says it has been difficult to get people excited about virtual fundraisers and events.

She hopes people will rally around the charities that are important to them.

“If you believe in a charity, not just the food bank, if you’re passionate about something that a local charity does, please support it, support us. We are just the same as a small local business. When we say support local, support your local charities as well. We need your help to continue our service and we do important work.”
