KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of British Columbia is investigating whether a Kamloops RCMP officer’s actions caused serious injury.

A release from BC RCMP says an officer discovered a fight in the 600-block of Columbia Street West Friday (March 12) evening. While they arrested one man for assault, an interaction occurred before the officer took him into custody.

The man complained of injury before arriving to the RCMP detachment. B.C. Emergency Health Service determined he was suffering from serious injury after he was transported to hospital.

Kamloops RCMP are continuing to investigate the assault and no further information will be released.
