COVID-19 vaccination clinics to begin for Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc

TK’EMLUPS — Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) members will be able to call in and book COVID-19 vaccination appointments starting this week.

A release from the Office of Chief / Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir says the TteS Moderna supply has arrived. Clinics will begin this week out of Moccasin Square Garden, and can be booked through Q’wemtsin Health Society at 250-314-6732.

There are no walk-ins accepted at this time, and clients are asked to wear a medical grade mask for their appointment.

Clinic dates are as follows:

  • March 17-19, 2021—Elders 60+
  • March 22-25, 2021—All residents of TteS aged 18+
  • March 26, 2021—TteS Membership away from home aged 18+
  • March 29, 2021—Band staff & First Nations organization staff will be done if vaccine supply permits

Anyone not listed is asked to call Interior Health at 1-877-740-7747 when their eligibility period takes effect.

Band leadership says to protect the community and elders, “it is vital that as many of our members as possible get vaccinated.”

Those who do get the vaccine are reminded to continue practicing health measures such as wearing face masks, washing hands, physical distancing, and keeping social bubbles small.
