Highway closure

Trans Canada closed by falling rocks

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE- 7:45 am

It looks like the Trans Canada Highway will be closed until at least this afternoon.

The road was shut down overnight in both directions after rocks came down on the highway between Golden and Yoho National Park.

A geotechnical inspection is being done to make sure the road is safe to reopen. Next update from Drive B.C. is expected about 1:00 PM today.

EARLIER -The Trans Canada Highway is closed this morning (Tuesday) near Donald and Yoho National Park.

Rocks have come down on the highway and, aside from clearing them, Highways is doing a geotechnical assessment to make sure there are no serious problems.
